LEGS exhibition
A brief was set to all third year students by Joyanne Horscroft and Julie Wilkinson to design and create a chair to be shown in an exhibition in Bath. There were no limitations for the design of the chair but those who contributed were asked to do their own advertising to promote the show which was held in Invention Studios, Bath between January 30th and February 1st. I decided to make my chair out of 3cm x 3cm x 3cm pink, black and white recycled paper cubes so I spent hours printing them off and assembling them. Nearing the deadline I counted the number of cubes I had and then made a design that fitted that number, I had 429 so that became the name of my chair.

Before assembling the chair which was glued with UHU I created a promotional poster by constructing the LEGS logo from the cubes.

I also made replica recycled cardboard cubes that had the information on them about the Exhibtion and were left around uni for people to pick up. FInally I made twice the size recycled cardboard cubes that were sent out as invites.

I was also asked to create the web site and DVD which was handed out at the exhibition’s private view. The website was designed by the three of us and I spent 24 hours getting it together. It was a simple piece in flash with each person getting their own page for their chairs photo and information.

Finally I presented the girls with a homemade cake of the LEGS logo which was given (and eaten) at the private view.
